Three years in

Since our founding, the work has stayed close to the ground.

Over the past three years we've run dental health check-up camps across underserved communities and opened Khobragade Dental Clinic, operated by the foundation — the foundation for everything that follows, including our research.

Pratitya Oral Health Initiative

Better habits. Stronger communities. Lasting impact.

Duration
36 months
Location
Rural Nagpur, Maharashtra
Focus
School-based oral health & lifestyle
Model
Volunteer-led public health initiative

Why this project

Most oral health programs in rural India are short-term, screening-only, and non-longitudinal. Few track behavior, clinical, and lifestyle change over multiple years. Pratitya addresses this gap through sustained intervention and long-term monitoring of middle school students.

Aim & objectives

To improve oral hygiene and promote healthy lifestyle behaviors among middle school students in rural Maharashtra.

  • Assess baseline oral health status
  • Reduce preventable oral disease
  • Improve oral hygiene habits
  • Study lifestyle factors & dentist perspectives
  • Build school-community dental networks
Beyond the clinic

Other ways we build health and curiosity.

Podcast

Through My Lens

A public health podcast where we invite professionals from all walks of life, globally, to discuss the issues shaping public health today.

Network

Rural Dental Association

Founded by us to connect dentists working in rural India. For better future, shared decision making among dental surgeons and public health scientists. Our first symposium is concluded, with many more to come.

Organic Farming

Khobragade Farms

Spreading knowledge of sustainable, organic, nutritious food — from plantation to your plate — because health starts long before the clinic.

Library & Research Centre

A room where curiosity is the first requirement.

Our library is open to all, designed to build scientific temperament in children — getting them genuinely interested in science, and increasing girls' participation in it.

The same space doubles as the foundation's research centre, where our field data is studied, written up, and turned into health action.

Poster released

A documentary on the unlicenced street dentists/quackers work, and the people in it.

The documentary explores the lives and practices of street dentists and informal dental practitioners in India, who continue to serve communities with limited access to formal dental care. It looks beyond the label of “quackery” to examine the social realities, trust, survival and healthcare inequalities that allow these practices to persist. The poster is out; release and screening details will be announced here.

SUSTAINING A VISION

Honoring the teachers who shape lives.

The annual felicitation ceremony was established to honour the enduring legacy of late headmaster Narayan V. Khobragade. Throughout his life, he remained fiercely dedicated to uplifting the education system and serving the people until his very last breath. This yearly event celebrates his spirit by recognizing outstanding individuals who embody his values of leadership, learning, and community service.
